He's Given it all He's Got

...and he won't be taking any more of it...

James Montgomery Doohan passed away Wednesday morning. Not many may know that name; he is known for only one thing, who he played on TV and in the movies. And those that followed his work were a select group of fans.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Habemus Hockey!

Roll out the Ice, Lace up the Skates

I wanted to do that ever since I read that other story on ESPN.

Anyway, after a very long time and a season lost, representatives from the NHL and NHLPA have agreed on a new Collective Bargaining Agreement. This effectively ends a lockout that was the longest in the history of North American sports (at least, that's how it's reported); if you know of a longer lockout in the history of sports, period, let me know.

An Update

St. Barnabas...Updated

Normally, I wouldn't announce what I done in updating sermons. Why? Well, the menubar already does that for me. However, the date of a sermon update has changed (to today), but the number of new or updated sermons hasn't changed.

I fixed an error in the St. Barnabas sermon. Hence the new update date.

Thank you.

Food for Thought

Iraq vs. D.C.

I found this little interesting tidbit on a joke site. If the numbers are correct or not, this is quite funny. If the numbers really are correct, I wonder if the liberals would agree with the conclusion.

In Honor of the Tour de France

LIVESTRONG and The "New Black"

Well, Lance Armstrong is wearing the yellow jersey again. He may not keep it through the next several stages. That's alright with him; he wants to be wearing it when it's all over. I want him to wear it. I hope he wins.

But, this entry isn't about him or the Tour de France. Well, about him indirectly, I suppose.

This entry is about the latest fad...something Lance Armstrong had a hand in starting. It's about the "new black" (a term which basically means the "latest fad").

I'm talking about the wristbands.

Seventh Sunday after Pentecost

Matthew 11:25-30

In the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

"At that time Jesus said, 'I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children.'"

What are these things that Jesus is talking about? Who are the wise and learned? Who are the little children? All very good questions, and their answers will help to explain this passage from St. Matthew's Gospel. So, let us be about the task of answering them.

What are these things that Jesus is talking about?
