What's Going On

Temperature Tolerance

In less than a week, we will be starting our second winter not in South Dakota. Only our second. Currently, however, as Autumn ends, we find ourselves in a little bit of an "Arctic blast." Temperatures have dipped into the mid 20s Fahrenheit (-5 to -3 Celsius); below freezing, sure, but not frigid like what we had experienced back on the plains.

But, like I said, this is only our second winter outside of South Dakota. Man, does it ever feel cold. I'm not as tolerant to the cold as I used to be. Is it because we now live in an area where the difference between the highest high of the year and lowest low are not as great as they are back in South Dakota? Is it because it normally doesn't get this cold (or get this cold for long) here? But, again, we haven't been here that long...

Isn't it Ironic?

Isn 't it ironic that the state that was home to the most upright and just politician this country has known is also the state known to have the most corrupt politicians in the country? It's hard to believe that Abraham Lincoln, Rod Blogojevich, and the Chicago Daleys all come from Illinois. Talk about polar opposites; gives new meaning to the phrase "opposites attract."

Be Careful What You Shop For

you just might shake your head

Genevieve was looking at some movies at Circuit City and asked me a question about something there. So, on a whim, I decided to see what they were offering on Blu-ray for under $20. I saw the usual cheap, short titles that are hardly worth that price under $20. I saw the titles that let you turn your TV into an aquarium or fireplace...faux, of course.

Then, there was this title...
