Mission Accomplished

Every Day An Entry

So, with this post, I've have successfully posted to my blog at least once a day for 30 days. This also marks the 40th post this month. This is definitely the most posted month. This, then, is a recap, of sorts.

Huh...What?

...ooooookay...

So, on some tabloid program this evening, the information on the subject of the show included: "Update on the death of Michael Jackson." My initial thought was, "Yup, he's still dead." I mean, no offense to the man, his legacy, his family, anything...him, but I'm certain they could have made their point differently. "More news following Michael Jackson's death." There, I just did it.

Krave and P2K

moto4lin

Since upgrading my phone to a Krave ZN4, I have been unable to connect my phone and computer using moto4lin. Previously, I had a RAZR V3m, and it worked without a hitch. I was able to find the settings to make it work.

Now, however, I can't find the P2K Product ID for the Krave. I can't figure out how to do it with what I have on my computer or by installing some new program. I can't find the information anywhere on the web. I have one other option available to me, but it involves installing a program on another computer, one that may only work on Genevieve's laptop (unless someone out there has the information already and is willing to share it).

Basically, the only thing holding me back from doing some hard-core searching is the necessity for connecting my phone to my computer. I can charge my phone from my computer with no problem. But, I have no need to be able to view and transfer files between my computer and phone's file system...at least, I have no pressing need.

This post simply marks 4 weeks of daily posts in my Every Day an Entry mission. This is certainly the month with the highest post count...might even be the one with the most comments, too.

A Bunch of Guitar Hero-ing

First III, then World Tour, now Aerosmith

On a trip to Fred Meyer some time ago, I marveled at the price of Guitar Hero Aerosmith, guitar controller included. It was less than an off-brand guitar controller alone...on clearance. I thought it would be nice to have it for the controller so that Genevieve and I can play together on the other Guitar Hero games we have. But, at the time, I thought differently of getting it.

Raspberries

In the midst of retrieving something we left in Salem the last time we were there, we went and got some fresh produce...as in farm fresh. Among the produce were some yummy, yummy, yummy raspberries. Have I said yummy, yet?

Lutheranism

A Reformation Day...of sorts

I have always thought of June 25 as a second Reformation Day. It's not halfway to October 31. It's not surrounded by any other holidays (unless, like me, you consider the Nativity of St. John the Baptist a holiday). But, today is special, nonetheless, in the Lutheran Church.

They Come in Threes

  1. Ed McMahon
  2. Farrah Fawcett
  3. Michael Jackson

Since the last two died today, I'm sure Fawcett's death and "rememberance" will be overshadowed by Jackson's.

Now, if someone else famous dies...do we expect two more?

YAF1P

No, That's Not a License Plate With a Hidden Meaning

So, it seems the parties in Formula One have come to an agreement, if only temporary. So, for next year at least, there will be only one world-wide (ahem, not quite) premier racing series and championship. The current agreement lasts only through 2012. What will happen after that is only anyone's guess.

However, I can't help but wonder what next season's controversy will be.

And...Another Happening

Happy Birthday to Me

I was born 33 years ago. I don't know which is the greater accomplishment, being born or making it to 33.

As an aside, on the Guitar Hero games, my band name is Thirty3. Coincidence? I think not!

I am a Legend of Rock

In a Manner of Speaking, I Guess

When Circuit City was going out of business, one of the treasures we found was Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock for the PS3. Genevieve tried it out when we visited the Steeles some time ago and really liked it, so we picked it up for substantially less than it's worth.

Well, the past two days, I took some time to complete the game on easy mode. Hah! I am a legend of rock.

Man, do my wrists hurt, though.

I don't know how much further I'll go, though...

Stats Analyzation

Can't Figure it Out, But I Will

I've got some stats I put together regarding this site. I'll be posting them when the month is over as a matter of comparison. But, before then, I want to take a little time to analyze them. There may be an interesting hidden meaning in them. I may even make them look pretty with charts and such.

I've been playing a lot of Burnout Paradise, lately. That is to say, when I play a video game, it's almost always Burnout Paradise. And, thanks to Father's Day and birthday, in a new section of it (Big Surf Island). Complete fun!

Bot Question Confusion

Spell it Out, Like I Did

Okay, it seems some people were having difficulty posting comments here. The question I had was kind of confusing: "What is half of two?" Some people were answering "1". While technically correct, I had spelled out the number in the question, hoping the answer would be spelled out, too.

Anyway, I've changed the question. The answer is actually a number, not spelled out this time.

June is Such a Happening Month

Here's Today's Happening

Has it really been 15 years? Wow! I can't believe I graduated from high school 15 years ago today.

I wonder why I've never been contacted for any kind of reunion. Not that I could necessarily go, but I wonder if there has been a class reunion.

But, 15 years... I'm getting old. How does that make you feel, mom and dad?

St. Barnabas

Matthew 10:5-16, Acts 11:19-30; 13:1-3 [originally preached 12 June 2005]

Today is St. Barnabas. So, for today's entry, here's a sermon from the archives. Enjoy!

In the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

What we have before us is Jesus sending out the Twelve. He sends His disciples to preach a most joyous message: "The kingdom of heaven is near." "Joyous?" you say? Yes! This is the best news given for preaches to preach—the kingdom of heaven is near, that is to say, the Christ is come to take away the sins of the world.

Truth in Children's Entertainment

What We Can Learn from Cartoons

Part of the folly of watching children's entertainment on long car trips...scratch that.

Part of the folly of LISTENING to children's entertainment on long car trips is that you pick up on the details of the dialog. These two lines stick with me for different reasons, and they both seem true and valid (though one is more valid that the other).

Remembering D-Day

June 6, 1944

Men stormed a beach in France against impossible odds, facing gun-fire from well-fortified and dug-in positions. The first men to set foot on Normandy would most likely meet a quick bullet, and most of them did. Some of them, barely alive, thought only of their families and the brothers-in-arms who would be following them; some of them used themselves as shields.

Thank You

a simply delicious recipe

Thanks to my sister and brother-in-law for this delicious recipe. We marinated some boneless, skinless chicken breasts in, of all things, Catalina dressing. It was delicious. Brother-in-law suggested a minimum 12 hour marinade, but ours only had a 1-hour soak (did you like the Deadliest Catch reference?): "Well, think of it this way. If you like it with a short marinade, you'll really like a long marinade," he said. It still tasted good. Thanks, guys; we'll give the long soak a try some other time (like when we think ahead in plenty of time to prepare it).

Give it try, I'm sure you'll like it, too.

But, I found a Pepsi product I really like...

While watching T.V. last night—Deadliest Catch, I believe—I saw a commercial for the forthcoming G.I. Joe movie. I thought I caught a glimpse of Ben Affleck in the film, so I headed over to IMDb to see if he was listed among the cast for the film. What I discovered baffles me.

I'm on a Mission

this one's not from God

Blues Brothers reference aside, I'll be frank and up front about it. I want to fill the month of June with an entry every day. There may be days where there is one entry. There may be days where there are several entries. Some entries may be thoughtful and insightful. Some entries may be mundane. Some entries may be long and eloquent. Some entries may be a title and a sentence.

I'm calling this mission "Every Day an Entry". So, here's entry number 1 for Every Day an Entry, 1 June 2009.

Words ought to be a little wild for they are the assault of thoughts on the unthinking.
