Our kids are learning Algebra and Calculus, are expected to memorize the periodic table and to read Shakespeare. Their marching-band routines are ever more complicated, and they are supposed to know all the plays in the playbook. But when it comes to church, we say, "Don't bother me with the details."

Dear Barack Obama

What's to say a vote for you will matter?

Seriously, I'm tired of all of your political ads saying that we can change not only the White House, but all of Washington [D.C.], [merely by voting for you]. It's nothing but endless political rhetoric. The same goes for the rest of your message; we've heard it all before—reaching across the aisle, working together, etc. We've heard this for too many years already.

I doubt a vote for you will do that. I doubt you can do that. I'm not saying I believe you will or will not try. I'm saying I believe your promises will go unfulfilled. I'm saying I believe you're saying these things without any real hope of actually being able to accomplish them.
