Lewis Hamilton has won the Formula One Driver's Championship. He needed to finish fifth in the final race to clinch it no matter what Filipe Massa did, but especially if Massa should win the race. Massa won the race, and from looking at the commentary on Formula1.com's Live Timing, Hamilton got into fifth right on the last lap.

I was watching the race for as long as I could before starting church. Reports were coming in with about 14 laps remaining that it would start raining in ten minutes. Typical lap times were 1 minute, 14-15 seconds, so the rain would certainly be falling before the end of the race...right before. Right before we started church, I took a peek at the live timing as saw that the front runners went into the pits, presumably to switch to a rain tire. However, the Toyotas stayed out. Hamilton came out fifth, Massa in the lead, right where they needed to be for Hamilton to win the championship by a point.

Near the end of the race, Sebastian Vettel passed Hamilton, putting him in sixth, where he would be until the end of the race. Massa crossed the finish line, and the Ferrari crew were celebrating a win and, presumably, the driver's and constructor's championships. But, Toyota's Timo Glock slowed, Hamilton passed him, and went into fifth place, crossing the line to seal the championship win, much to the chagrin of the Ferrari crew.

Congratulations, Hamilton, I'm glad you made up for last year!
