He's Given it all He's Got
...and he won't be taking any more of it...
James Montgomery Doohan passed away Wednesday morning. Not many may know that name; he is known for only one thing, who he played on TV and in the movies. And those that followed his work were a select group of fans.
Still, his character was well known, even outside that circle. He was a Star Trek alum who played the Scotsman engineer of the Enterprise NCC-1701 and NCC-1701-A.
His character was probably the most loved of all the Star Trek characters, joined only by Leonard McCoy (the doctor, "Bones"), and that only for the lines made famous by them or to them—"I'm sorry captian, I've given her all she's got, she cannot take much more of this," and, "Beam me up, Scotty," for Doohan, and "He's/She's dead, Jim" for DeForest Kelley ("Bones").
Trekkers and Trekkies around the world mourn. Scotty will be loved, remembered...missed. He was 85.
