What I Did This Week, no. 20

tempus fugit

Can you believe that there have already been 20 weeks this year? Or, can you believe that there have only been 20 weeks this year? It’s all a matter of perspective, I suppose—where you’ve been, what you’ve done, what you’ve gone through so far this year, or any year—that determines whether a point in time is already so far into a period or only so far into it.

Sunday – Jubilate is primarily how we celebrated the day at church. Yes, it was Mother’s Day, too, as far as Hallmark is concerned. The three older kids were sick to one degree or another, so off to church I went, alone. I had class for my older confirmand after church, then it was back home to begin preparations for Mother’s Day dinner; one of Genevieve’s favorite: an Italian-styled Schnitzel, with crumbly-flower (“breaded” cauliflower), and Italian seasoned potatoes. Accompanying sauces were homemade marinara and a creamy pesto sauce.

Monday – My day off was pretty much uneventful. I got to relax a bit. We watched some of the new movies that we got from Disney, though really, we’ve seen them before.

Tuesday – So I was back in the office today. It was a pretty usual day in the office as I looked over the texts for Sunday and looked at some stuff for tomorrow night. Back home, and I downloaded a new game for PS3—a free one for being a PlayStation Plus subscriber: PES 2014 (Pro Evolution Soccer). I’m enjoying the game; it’s better than I remember FIFA being, though it doesn’t have all of the licenses that FIFA has. Additionally, I earned enough from filling out surveys to purchase a camera for the PS4; we played some Playroom on the system with the new camera. Dinner was $10 family-sized pizzas from Papa Murphy’s (their Tuesday special).

Wednesday – I was back in the office again this morning, preparing for study tonight. I looked some more at the texts for Sunday and even began the sermon. I wasn’t back home long when it was time to go back to church for the Confessions study. We got through Article VII (Lord’s Supper) in the Epitome of the Formula of Concord.

Thursday – It was time for Bible Study Breakfast again; IHOP in Parker at 7am and the book of Ephesians. At the end of the study, there was talk of changing locations, which may include a change of day—The Egg and I, likely on Mondays (as it turns out, we’ll meet at Egg and I, but still on Thursdays). When I arrived at IHOP, I noticed that it was high time to get the oil changed, so I made my way to the Dodge Dealer, which was “just” up the road. The oil is changed, and while I wait, the service rep tells me that the brake shoes are very thin, that I should consider replacing them. So I do. I wasn’t expecting a long wait, as there weren’t many other customers there, but I didn’t get out of there until just after noon (I had been there since about 8:30). From there, I had to go to Home Depot to get some wood to board up broken windows in our garage doors. I was expecting to get back to the office after breakfast, an oil change, and a Home Depot run, but I didn’t even get back to Elizabeth until just before 2pm. It was a long day, to say the least...

Friday – Finally back in the office to attempt to make up for yesterday. I get the sermon finished. I do some other little things that I need to do to get ready for Sunday. I was in a little early, and didn’t get out until about noon. Again, there was something to do this evening, and it wasn’t long before I had to leave for Bible Study. We’re making our way through Genesis...slowly, as we read from Luther’s lectures on the book. His insight is amazing.

Saturday – I awoke to find that my websites were unreachable. According to tech support, the data center interrupted service because of an abuser on the server. It should be up...some time. Otherwise, it was kind of a wind down day in preparation for tomorrow.
