Trying to Understand the Logic

Could someone please explain this to me?

Someone was having a discussion with a "spiritual" friend who said that she doesn't believe the Bible to be entirely true because it was written by a bunch of people who claimed to be inspired by God (whoever that is). When asked what parts she thought were true and how she knew, she said something along the lines of, "basically, if I feel there is some truth to them."

Now, what I find hard to understand is how she can't trust the judgment of ancient men but she can trust her own judgment. What makes her better than them?

All of this falls under the realm of subjective relativism and moral relativism, ideas that are purely western, purely American. It is relative in that the idea is that it works for her, but it may not work for others, and that's okay. It's subjective because things differ from person to person. And the morals come in because they are grounded in things that are completely relative; there are no absolutes, and when there are no absolutes, there is no solid idea of right and wrong.

Lord help us if this kind of thinking becomes so pervasive that we as humanity lose all hope.
