Am I missing something here? This is a paragraph from foxnews.com's recent report on the confirmation hearings of John Roberts for chief justice of the Supreme Court. Take a look at that last sentence: "These officials spoke on condition of anonymity because of the confidential nature of the meeting."
In other words, "I'm going to breach confidence here, betray trust, maybe even break the law, but don't tell anyone who I am because of this." This all seems very ludicrous to me. Being in a position where things are told me in confidence, I cannot imagine ever breaching that confidence...for any reason.
I guess as long as it rakes in the dollars and ratings, it's all okay. Nobody really gets hurt anyway, right? Okay, end sarcasm...
