It is a great tragedy that so many within our midst want to scrap everything that means Lutheran, but keep the title.

Thank You

a simply delicious recipe

Thanks to my sister and brother-in-law for this delicious recipe. We marinated some boneless, skinless chicken breasts in, of all things, Catalina dressing. It was delicious. Brother-in-law suggested a minimum 12 hour marinade, but ours only had a 1-hour soak (did you like the Deadliest Catch reference?): "Well, think of it this way. If you like it with a short marinade, you'll really like a long marinade," he said. It still tasted good. Thanks, guys; we'll give the long soak a try some other time (like when we think ahead in plenty of time to prepare it).

Give it try, I'm sure you'll like it, too.

Feeding is a very important ritual for me. I don't trust people who don't like to eat.

Soft Drink of Choice

and why I'm choosing against it

I'm a Coke man. I like Diet Coke and Diet Coke with Lime and Coke Zero Vanilla and Barq's and Pibb.

I don't like Pepsi. I think Pepsi is too sweet. Of course, I think the same of regular Coke, too. Fact is, I think even Diet Pepsi tastes too sweet.

But, I found a Pepsi product I really like...

Every Day an Entry

Day 3

What more can I say than has already been said? That reminds me of a passage from scripture.

G.I. Joe

not what you might think

The Preface
While watching T.V. last night—Deadliest Catch, I believe—I saw a commercial for the forthcoming G.I. Joe movie. I thought I caught a glimpse of Ben Affleck in the film, so I headed over to IMDb to see if he was listed among the cast for the film. What I discovered baffles me.

The Day

a short synopsis

I didn't think it would take this long, but there's really nothing to add today. How about some bullet points?

I'm on a Mission

this one's not from God

Blues Brothers reference aside, I'll be frank and up front about it. I want to fill the month of June with an entry every day. There may be days where there is one entry. There may be days where there are several entries. Some entries may be thoughtful and insightful. Some entries may be mundane. Some entries may be long and eloquent. Some entries may be a title and a sentence.

I'm calling this mission "Every Day an Entry". So, here's entry number 1 for Every Day an Entry, 1 June 2009.

Words ought to be a little wild for they are the assault of thoughts on the unthinking.

Are You a Steadfast Lutheran?

not just in name, but in word and deed

Wow, been a while since I've been here...nearly a month.

So, what is a steadfast Lutheran? A Lutheran who stands fast to the truth despite the myriad and unrelenting onslaught of false doctrine, lies, and temptations that so easily pervade and persuade the Church. This is nothing new; Christians have been called to remain steadfast since the beginning of Christianity:

I know your tribulation and your poverty (but you are rich) and the slander of those who say that they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan. Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and for ten days you will have tribulation. Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life.

New Moblog

no more flickr

If you look just above this post, you'll see my moblog has changed. Well, I'm no longer using flickr; I'm using my own script (well, a script by a friend with some tweaks to suit my needs). The layout is rather rudimentary at the moment, but expect that to change in the near future...like soon after I figure out what I want to do there.

I Love this List

at least, I respect the people on it

Hollywood and Left-wing liberal nut-job go together like love and marriage (there's a topic for another post, but not here). But, like every relationship involving more than two people, there is bound to be a black sheep. This list shows some of Hollywood's members of the politically conservative. There's some talent on this list, some that I enjoy watching or listening to—now I have another reason to.

On a side note, I still want to see An American Carol.
