The Fruits and Nuts We Left Behind

so glad we're not in Oregon anymore

"Resident Anita Sullivan summed up a common viewpoint: 'So you say I pledge allegiance and right there I don't care for that language,' Sullivan says. 'It sort of means loyalty to your country; well, I feel loyalty to the entire world.'"

There is compromise and furor over the Pledge of Allegiance in Eugene, Oregon. Strangely, it's not with regard to the '54 addition of "under God," but about being American. I swear the fruits and nuts of the country are concentrated in that state.

Ms. Sullivan, if you have an issue pledging allegiance to the country in which you are given the privilege of electing leaders among other privileges, I'm sure, then get out. If you don't like the place, leave!

Going to the Movies

Just got out of Cars 2.  I seem to recall reading or hearing that Sig Hansen was going to be in it, but I was still surprised to see the Northwestern and hear his voice. And it was nice to see and hear my favorite F1 driver’s likeness and voice used—Lewis Hamilton.  It was a very good movie—a good story—the kind of quality I’d expect from Pixar.

This is Kinda Funny

Use the links at the bottom of my site to validate either the rss or atom feed right now, and you see this line: "style attribute contains potentially dangerous content: biblereference". Wow, a Bible reference is dangerous content! Hahaha.

For the sake of information, "biblereference" is the name of a css style at my site. It's what I use to make reference of (usually) Bible citations of a smaller text size than the rest of the text (usually in sermons posted to the site).

We're Back

hopefully for good this time

Following some difficulty with the transitions mentioned in this post, things seem to be back and restored. A few errors may pop up from time to time, not the least of which is my subdomain resolving sometimes and sometimes not.

Anyway, if you come across an error page at any of my sites (again, mentioned in this post), let me know.

What Did You do for Cinco de Mayo?

we had shark

First, here's the recipe we used...sorta:

  • 1 1/2 lbs. shark or firm fleshed fish
  • 1/3 c. lime juice
  • 2 tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 tbsp. parsley
  • 1/4 c. beer
  • 1/2 tsp. cumin
  • Salt and pepper
  • 2 tsp. Dijon mustard
  • Salsa and Avocado to garnish

Combine all ingredients, except salsa and avocado. Pour over shark. Cover and marinate in refrigerator. Drain shark, reserving marinade. BBQ or boil 4-5 minutes, basting with marinade. Turn and cook another 4-5 minutes until flakey. Garnish with salsa and avocado. 4 servings. [From cooks.com]

I added some lime zest for an extra lime flavor. Also, we used gluten free beer (sorghum instead of barley). We substituted pico de gallo for salsa. Cooking times were a little longer, too; these directions for the sized portions we had did little more than sear the edges, leaving raw flesh in the middle.

Errors and Stuff

transitions

The servers that Mobius Design pages reside on are going through some transitions. So, pages and subdomains on mobius-design.net, famwagner.com, cos-lutheran.org, and thearcadium.com will at times be unavailable, render a 500 error, or will work perfectly fine.

Additionally, email DOES NOT work, though I keep receiving the same messages over and over and over again.

Hang in there, things will be back to normal sooner or later.
