What I Did This Week, no. 15

repair

This was a week filled with stuff to do, at least on the back half. Colorado Confessional Lutherans, church cleaning, even a cookout highlighted the activities. However, they all happened Thursday or later.

Sunday – Jesus given and received. Judica Sunday, and the sermon is posted. After one catechesis class, I was able to do some work fixing my truck. I got the old hose off, but struggled a bit to get the new hose on. Once I did, though, it was time for another catechesis class, then to go home.

Monday – My day off was marked by nothing going on. I like it this way.

Tuesday – After completing the homily for tomorrow night, I decided to use the same one for Thursday morning. I just had to figure out how to do the readings; it would seem weird to do just one part of the Passion reading for a group who has not been a part of the reading of the other four parts. When I got home, we loaded up and headed to Parker for various things. Dropping Genevieve and Tirzah off at Vitamin Cottage, I took the three older kids to Firehouse Subs for lunch. After picking Genevieve and Tirzah up, it was to Gamestop to pick up a copy of LEGO The Hobbit for PS3, then into Famous Footwear for new shoes for the big kids, then to Michael’s for a couple of things. From there, we went to Target for a few more things, then home.

Wednesday – So, I decided to read from the Seven Last Words from three of the Gospels for tomorrow morning’s CCL meeting. I mention them in the homily, so it made sense. After shoring up the homily, it was time to go home, but only for a little while. This evening, we headed to church for the last Mid-week Lent service. While were sharing hosting duties for dinner—dessert. I suggested root beer floats, and the weather warmed up enough that it turned out to be a nice treat.

Thursday – I was able to get back to Breakfast Bible Study this morning. Then, it was time for Colorado Confessional Lutherans, and I was the host this time. Normally, we meet on the third Thursday, but next week is Maundy Thursday, so it was today. Dr. Steven Hein was the teacher, leading us through a discussion of Article VI of the Augsburg Confession, and the related parts of the Confutation and Apology.

Friday – A pretty regular day today, though I spent a little more time at the office than I anticipated. This evening was supposed to be a Bible Study, but some of the participants were feeling ill, so we called it off. Our friend from Denver who would have come out for Bible Study, came out anyway and hung out with us.

Saturday – It was cleaning day at church. Spic and span, the place was sparkling when we left. My office even looks amazing, if I do say so myself. From there, we headed to Parker again for Costco, as well as a couple of other stops. We go some new liquor at Parker Payless, including something called Hard Root Beer—it’s an interesting flavor. When we got home, it was still warm enough, but cooling down, and not much wind, so we roasted some hot dogs at our fire pit. While burning wood is currently prohibited, we used charcoal, as charcoal grills are currently allowed. Genevieve even made some orange brownie bombs: brownie mix filled orange peels wrapped in foil and tossed on the fire—the chocolate-orange flavor is one of my favorites.
