Our kids are learning Algebra and Calculus, are expected to memorize the periodic table and to read Shakespeare. Their marching-band routines are ever more complicated, and they are supposed to know all the plays in the playbook. But when it comes to church, we say, "Don't bother me with the details."

Weight Loss

Or Evidence of It

My morning bike rides seem to be working, though looking at me you probably couldn't tell. Still, I feel better and "lighter" (if I could feel lighter).

I haven't been tracking my weight, because I do not have a quantifiable weight goal, nor is any quantifiable weight important to me. What I care about is looking smaller...looking healthier. That's not to say looks are that important to me, but I don't want to look overweight as I do.

And, I can tell the bike riding is working. It's not as difficult for me to go that short a distance. It doesn't take too long to do it. My 17½" neck clerical shirts aren't as tight around either my neck or my midsection. And today, my wife hugged me and said I felt thinner to her.

HOORAY FOR WEIGHT LOSS!
